About
JÓR Quartet – Echoes from the North
JÓR Quartet, established in Aarhus (DK) in 2017, is an acclaimed ensemble featuring some of the most talented young saxophonists in the Nordic region. Known for their versatility within the classical genre, the quartet performs a wide range of repertoire, from standard works and transcriptions to newly composed and experimental pieces. Their energetic stage presence and commitment to engaging the audience through musical expression set them apart.
The quartet frequently tours the Nordic region, working with composers to expand the possibilities of the saxophone quartet and its role in classical music. Currently, JÓR is focused on arranging works originally composed for strings and piano, providing a fresh perspective on Nordic cultural heritage.
In August 2024, JÓR will present their music program “Echoes from the North” on a tour across major Japanese cities, including Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, and Hiroshima. This tour underscores their dedication to sharing Nordic classical music with a broader audience and building an international network.
